Hello all m friends for making concrete there are three different materials required that is Cement,sand and Aggregate for any concrete work of Different forms like Columns Beams Slab and Footing with different grades of concrete at different  proportion.

In this article we will learn how to calculate cement sand and aggregate in column for grade of M20 and also how taking out quantity of cement sand and aggregate in a column.

Here we have the dimension given for front section of column is 375 x 275 mm and the height for cross section of the plan is 3.1 m .

As given M20 Grade of concrete of ratio 1:1.5:3 and if we sum up ratio will be 5.5

Some Important point for calculation :-

Density of cement = 1440 kg / m3

Density of sand = 1450 - 1500 kg / m3

Density of aggregate = 1450 - 1550 kg / m3

Weight of cement in bag = 50 kgs

Volume 1 bag of cement for 1 cum = 0.00347 cubic meter

Volume of 1 bag of cement in cubic ft. = 1.226 cubic ft.

Number of cement bag in 1 cum = 28.8 nos

How many cft in 1 cum = 35.28 cft.

  Now the volume of column that is represented as V = 0.375 x 0.275 x 3.1 = 0.319 meter cube

It is required to convert wet volume in to dry volume we will have to apply the following  formula :-

wet volume x 1.54       ( 1.54  is constant ) 

= 0.319 x 1.54 = 0.49 meter cube

Quantity of cement 


How to calculate volume of cement, sand and aggregate

Dry volume x ratio of cement / sum of ratio

= 0.49 x 1 / 5.5

=  0.089 cum

Quantity of cement in kg = 0.089 x 1440 = 128.16 kgs

quantity of cement in bags = 158.16 / 50 = 2.56 bags

Quantity of sand

Sand

= 1.5 x 0.49 / 5.5 = 0.13 cum

quantity of sand in cubic ft. = 0.13 x 35.28 = 4.71 cubic ft.

Quantity of Aggregate 

How to calculate volume of cement, sand and aggregate

= 3 x 0.49 / 5.5 = 0.26 cum

Quantity of Aggregate in cubic ft. = 0.26 x 35.28 = 9.42 cubic ft.

Quantity of water 

Let us consider water cement ratio = 0.45

water required for 1 bag of cement = 0.45 x 0.00347 ( volume of 1 bag of cement is 0.00347 )

                                                        = 0.156 cum

1 cubic meter is 1000 liter

water required for 1 bag of cement = 0.0156 x 1000 = 15.6 liter 

water required for = 2.56 x 15.6 = 39.93 liter

Conclusion:-

For  M20 grade of concrete of column ( 375 x 275 ) mm size 

Cement = 2.56 bags 

Sand = 4.71 cubic ft.

Aggregate = 9.42 cubic ft.
